This course will introduce specific motivational interviewing counseling techniques and how they can be applied in conjunction with Family Centered Care in promoting positive outcomes in the course of the patient/family/clinician interaction. Family Centered Care is an approach to healthcare that recognizes the vital role that families play in audiological treatment and rehabilitation. Foundations of Family Centered Care will be reviewed before providing materials for practical application of Family Centered Care and motivational interviewing skills in a clinical setting.
