Self-management is a key driver of successful outcomes for chronic conditions. In a mixed-methods study of 60 older adults, hearing loss self-management was assessed with generic clinical tools to determine the extent to which the concept of self-management is applicable to hearing loss. Study findings highlight the potential for a hearing loss self-management assessment to enhance patient-centered care and suggest that interventions to improve hearing loss self-management skills in adult patients should be developed.
