Currently, there is no well-established tool used to assess middle ear function in dogs. We tested the Wideband Acoustic Immittance (WAI) of 15 dogs (30 ears) of various age ranges with normal hearing confirmed by Brainstem Auditory Evoked Response testing. Consistent WAI tracings were observed, suggesting a pattern representing normal middle ear function in dogs. The patterns observed appear to suggest WAI may be a practical means of assessing middle ear function in dogs.
