To determine hearing status in elementary school children with learning difficulties (LD), 488 children (7.7 to 10.8 years) underwent audiological assessment in schools in Brisbane, Australia. Children were classified as LD (n=62) or typically developing (n=426) by a learning score derived from National Assessment Program - Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) scores and school reports. Children with LD showed poorer hearing status, with acoustic reflex thresholds, dichotic digit scores and low-pass filtered speech scores being most predictive of learning score.
