Patients with misophonia experience extreme emotional distress in response to certain sounds (“triggers”). Although multidisciplinary intervention is recommended, misophonia can be managed using an audiological approach consisting of educational counseling and sound therapy for consistent daily support. In addition, heart rate variability biofeedback can help to improve autonomic nervous system regulation. This study describes survey results regarding outcomes for adults and children diagnosed with misophonia at a University Clinic.
