Studies with college students in rock, jazz, symphony, and other music genres suggest that musicians are exposed to high sound levels that may negatively impact their hearing. However, limited studies have been performed on marching bands, even though marching bands are common at colleges and universities and are heavily brass and percussion oriented. The objectives of this study are to determine marching band musicians’ sound exposures, as well as their attitudes toward high levels of sound and associated health risks.
