Singapore is a tiny island city state known for its good primary healthcare outcomes. Dismally, only 7.5% of the elderly with disabling hearing loss use hearing aids. In order to help elderly Singaporeans access hearing aids, the government introduced a scheme to provide up to 90% funding (valued at USD $ 2200) for hearing aids. Since its introduction in 2013, the uptake of hearing aids has tripled. The study attempts to quantify the benefits of such a government subsidy scheme.
