Participants (n=42) with normal hearing listened to speech in noise recordings made via personal FM, induction loop, infra-red, FM sound-field, and smart-device application systems from a simulated classroom and assessed speech clarity, listening effort, noise interference, nearness of speech, loudness interference, and naturalness of speech. An Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) indicated a significant effect for assistive system and listening perception measure. Post hoc analysis also indicated specific differences between assistive systems. Conclusions regarding listener preference of assistive systems were drawn.
