Significant hearing loss in children affects not only communication skills, but also vestibular function, with 70% of children with hearing loss experiencing vestibular dysfunction. No studies to date assess the impact of balance dysfunction on activity level or quality of life in adolescents. The present study examines the effect of vestibular function (bilateral coordination and balance) on activity level and quality of life in hearing adolescents (12-16 years) as a baseline comparison for adolescents with hearing loss.
