Young adults completedmultiple runs of an adaptive spectral-temporal sequencing task to determine the relative contributions of individual differences on performance. Results indicated that performance on the initial run relied on background related to musical sophistication; following minimal training, however, performance was reflective of pitch discrimination and short-term memory capacity.
