This research project explored possible factors affecting expressive language outcomes in children with hearing loss (HL). Specifically, meeting the 3 & 6 month JCIH criteria, duration of device use, and type of HL were investigated. Results indicate better outcomes for children with significant HL who met the 3 month guideline at 30 months of age, and poorer outcomes with longer device use at 14 months of age. No significant differences were found in language outcomes for the remaining factors.
