Vestibular dysfunction in children is often misunderstood and few professionals have the experience or knowledge to appropriately refer, evaluate, or treat these children. Inconsistencies regarding audiologist referrals to a pediatric Balance and Vestibular Program were identified and a year-long Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) process was initiated. This included clinical scenario surveys to assess clinician confidence and referral accuracy, staff education, and referral tracking. QAPI measures showed increased referrals and improved referral practices.
