This session will help participants begin to think about the future of their organization. If the organization is going to be in place 20 years from now and making a difference, it must have a firm plan on how to get there. Are there cash flow issues? Are succession plans developed? How is membership? What does the population you serve truly need? How does governmental regulation affect the organization and the population you serve? Do you have enough volunteers? How is the knowledge base of your board members? Can you readily attract quality staff?
This session will help participants examine their organization and start planning for the future. We will discuss the difference between a strategic plan and a business plan and explain the components of a strategic plan. Participants will be guided through the process of creating a strategic plan and examining their organization's core beliefs and values. We will discuss their purpose, their "why". Do they have a brand promise? Should they? Strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats and trends will be discussed along with where they want to be in the future, and how they will get there. Ultimately, we will talk about how to actually implement the strategic plan when it is completed. The best designed strategic plan will fail if not properly implemented. A good strategic plan can guide an organization to new highs if it's well implemented.
Every participant will take home a tool to assist their organization in designing and implementing a strategic plan.
