Parkinson’s Disease Psychosis: What Mental Health Professionals Need to Know

Thursday, October 25
3:45 PM - 5:00 PM
Location: W240

Parkinson’s Disease (PD) is classified as a “movement disorder;” however, for many patients, the motor problems are only a small part of the morbidity they experience with the disease. Neuropsychiatric disorders, such as psychosis and hallucinations, are common complications of the dopaminergic therapies and anticholinergic medications used to treat motor functions. This session will review the causes of neuropsychiatric disorders associated with PD and discuss appropriate treatment options.
