Bio (short form!): Danielle German, PhD, MPH is an Associate Professor in the Department of Health, Behavior and Society and Director of the Masters of Health Science program in Social Factors at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. Her research draws from interdisciplinary perspectives and uses qualitative and quantitative methods to understand and address the social and structural context of health behavior and disease transmission, with particular emphasis on issues related to HIV transmission, drug use, and mental health. She spends a lot of time at the intersection of research and practice related to the disproportionately high HIV rates among marginalized communities, including those living in poverty, drug users, and sexual and gender minorities.
