Objectives: To investigate the stories about access to care for severe pediatric TBI and caregiver with mild TBI in DC area and the impact on the family to inform advocacy and research initiatives and make a difference in people's lives.
Design: Qualitative Descriptive Case Study
Setting: Acute care, rehabilitation, community
Participants: National leader with mild TBI and caregiver to a child with severe TBI with experience trying to access care for herself and her daughter as well as other family members.
Representative of BIAA, BIAV and national leaders who have lived experiences with TBI..
Main Outcome Measure(s): Consumer with Mild TBI sought services for daughter with severe TBI and herself after a car accident in the DC area over the past 16 years and ongoing and has lived experience with the challenges, successes and the impact on the family.
