Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA)Founded in 1970 to help promote foreign trade, the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) is the foremost non-profit trade promotion organization in Taiwan. Jointly sponsored by the government, industry associations, and several commercial organizations, TAITRA assists Taiwan businesses and manufacturers with reinforcing their international competitiveness and in coping with the challenges they face in foreign markets. A. Facial Recognition for COMPUTEX forum TAITRA, organizers of COMPUTEX forum 2018, provided a new option for its audience- FACEPASS, the new technology of facial recognition that helped reduce paper waste and was an environmentally friendly and hassle-free way for admission to the forum.
B. COMPUTEX APP collects visitor data more conveniently and highly reduces paper waste. By inspiring the use of the COMPUTEX APP, heavy paper waste was able to be eliminated. It not only provided the necessary expo information – the floor plans, exhibitor information and feature events, but also made visitor data collection more accessible. Visitor used the APP instead of paper maps and guides to go around the showground which helped reduce a high volume of paper guides.
C. Embedded metro cards into badges reduce CO2 emissions One of the sustainable practices was offering embedded metro cards into our international visitors’ badges. This is service was the most popular among our international visitors as they carried only one card to travel around Taipei and visit the exhibition for FREE. Traveling by Taipei Metro is environmentally friendly, reduces traffic congestion around exhibition halls and time saving.

Case Study Information:
A. Facial Recognition FACEPASS (facial recognition) for admission was used in COMPUTEX forum 2018. Participants only needed to upload one mug shot onto the registration website in advance, and they could easily pick up their badges by bringing their faces to the registration counter. Participants’ identities were recognized in a second without checking any confirmation letter or scanning QR code.
B. COMPUTEX APP Organizer of COMPUTEX has developed a 3-in-1 exhibition app targeting the exhibitor and visitor needs. This new app was the best friend to participants while it marketed the show. And for visitors, COMPUTEX APP provided the necessary expo information – the floor plans, exhibitor information and feature events, etc. In the meantime, the visitors could collect digital business cards through their mobile phones and communicate directly with exhibitors or speakers on the APP even after the show.
C. Integrated badges All International visitors, including media friends, were offered 5-day unlimited FREE metro passes embedded into their COMPUTEX admission badges. They enjoyed the convenience of riding the Taipei Metro for free during the show as well as visiting the city while in Taipei.
