Risk to international business operations continues to evolve at an increasing pace. Maintaining situational awareness of cyber as well as physical threat vectors and vulnerabilities cannot be left solely to limited teams or individuals—modern risk management requires the effective use of modern principles, processes, and practices. The consensus of security professionals is that the emerging discipline of Enterprise Security Risk Management (ESRM) is the framework to address these challenges.
Associations share most of the same risks every large organization confronts, but also have many considerations unique to the nature of the industry. Extensive vendor networks combined with the unique vulnerabilities of financially critical events with a significant online presence require careful interpretations of ESRM best practices.
In this fast-paced session, Tim McCreight, Manager, Corporate Security - Cyber for the City of Calgary who has been on the forefront of ESRM—will lay the ground work of the ESRM framework. Todd Tolbert, Chief Digital Strategy Office for ASIS International will bring his extensive association experience to bear in interpreting specific cyber risks association leaders must confront as part of an overall ESRM strategy.
