Introduction & Objective : Cervical cancer is most common malignancy in women nowdays, with one of common complications are obstructive uropathy. Main management in this situation are urine diversion by retrograde ureteral stenting insertion, nephrostomy and ureterostomy. Most patients are suitable with ureteral stenting but not all patients will be successful with this procedure. This study aim to knowing predictive factor for successful retrograde ureteral stenting insertion in advanced cervical cancer with obstructive uropathy

Methods : The cross sectional retrospective study of case records from  July 2016 to December 2017 of cervical cancer patients with obstructive uropathy who underwent at Saiful Anwar Hospital Malang was carried out. The data were collected from the Medical Record Division in Saiful Anwar Hospital Malang. We noticed  age, stage of cancer, complete blood count, renal function test, unilateral or bilateral hydronephrosis, degree of hydronephrosis and wether retrograde ureteral stenting procedure is successful or not, and we analysis preoperative factors that contribute to successfulness of this procedure.

Results : 79 patients including in this study, mean age 48,6 years old, with 48 (60%) patients successfully did ureteral stent insertion, and 31 (40%) patients failed to do ureteral stent insertion. There are no significance difference in age, hemoglobin level, leucocyte level, ureum and creatinine level , degree and location of hydronephrosis between patients who succeeded with ureteral stent insertion and patients who failed wih this procedure.  There is significance difference in cervical cancer stadium between patients who succeed with ureteral stent insertion and patients who failed wih this procedure (p 0,009) and stage of the cervical cancer is strongly correlated with successfulness of ureteral stent insertion (p 0,008, r 0,279) (OR 5,017, p0,025).

Conclusions : Stage of cancer is predictive factor for successfulness of ureteral stent insertion in patients with cervical cancer and obstructive uropathy
