Chandru P. Sundaram, MD, is the Dr. Norbert and Louise Welch Professor of Urology and Director of the Residency Program and Minimally Invasive Surgery at Indiana University School of Medicine. After graduating from Madras Medical College, he trained in surgery and urology in India and England before completing his residency at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis and a fellowship in Boston. He began his academic urologic career at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, where he directed an Endourological Society-recognized fellowship. In 2002, Dr. Sundaram established a fellowship and program in minimally invasive surgery at Indiana University School of Medicine. He has been recognized with teaching awards from both Washington University and Indiana University. He has been a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England since 1989. Dr. Sundaram's areas of interest include minimally invasive surgery of the kidney, prostate and adrenal gland. He has authored or co-authored more than 150 articles in peer-reviewed journals.

He is the Treasurer Elect of the Endourological Society and is the chair of its fellowship committee. He is the founding Senior Editor of Videourology and serves as board member and assistant editor of the Journal of Endourology. He is on the board of directors of the American Urological Association. Dr. Sundaram has held multiple other leadership positions, including president of the American Urological Association's North Central Section, the Indiana Urologic Association and the Society of Urological Robotic Surgeons. In addition, he has been the chairman of the AUA's Laparoscopy, Robotic and New Surgical Technology Committee; and has served on the AUA's Education Council. Dr. Sundaram has been an invited faculty at numerous international meetings and institutions around the world.
