Dr. Karin Lehrich


Dr. Karin Lehrich, MD, is an academic Urologist in the department of Urology at the Vivantes Auguste-Victoria-Hospital Berlin, Germany, which is a Teaching Hospital of Berlin University, Charite. After completing medical school at the FU University Berlin, she specialised as an Urological surgeon at the AVK, Berlin and University Hospital Charite, Berlin. In 2002 she finished her doctorate thesis “ Holmium laser enucleation oft he prostate adenomas compared to open prostatectomy of prostates larger than 100g“. She subspecialised in Endourology and the technique of holmium laser enucleation oft he prostate.
Since 2012 she is Head of Urological Laser Center Berlin, ULZB. She has performed HoLEP in several international live surgery meetings, workshops and given presentations at international meetings. Training of other doctors in the technique of HoLEP is a main topic next to clinical work. and mentoring at the holmium academy.

Mitchell Humphreys

Mitchell Humphreys, MD is the Chair and Professor at the Department of Urology at Mayo Clinic in Arizona. He holds dual appointments in the Department of Urology in the Mayo College of Medicine and in Clinical and Translational Sciences in the Mayo Graduate School. In addition, he serves as the Dean of the Mayo Clinic School of Continuous Professional Development as well as the Endourology Fellowship director.
Dr. Humphreys completed Residency at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, and an Endourology and Advanced Robotics Fellowship at Indiana University. Since that time he has been on staff at Mayo Clinic in Arizona. His clinical focus is on surgical and metabolic stone disease, BPH (with a special focus on HoLEP), and minimally invasive GU oncology.
In addition to the publication of over 90 peer-reviewed manuscripts and multiple book chapters, he is a journal editor and reviewer for several international urology journals. He is an active member of the Endourology Disease Group for Excellence (EDGE) research consortium. He has traveled extensively within the United States and internationally doing both surgical demonstrations and lectures in his areas of expertise.
Outside of his work with Mayo Clinic he is on the Board of Directors of GSD Healthcare, LLC promoting basic healthcare initiatives in underserved and impoverished areas around the globe. He also serves as a Board of Trustee member to Columbia College which attends to a student population of over 30,000 students.

Nicole L. Miller

Dr. Nicole Miller, MD is an Associate Professor of Urologic Surgery at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in Nashville, TN. She joined the department in 2007. She completed her M.D. degree at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine in 2000, and received her urology residency training at the University of Virginia. Dr. Miller went on to complete a 2 year fellowship in Endourology and Minimally Invasive Surgery at the Indiana University School of Medicine under the mentorship of Dr. James E. Lingeman. She specializes in the medical and surgical treatment of kidney stone disease as well as laser surgery for BPH. Dr. Miller’s research interests include the changing composition of renal calculi, the pathophysiology and etiologies of nephrolithiasis and BPH, and antibiotic selection for kidney stone treatment. She has been the major contributor of transition zone prostate tissues from men undergoing surgery for refractory BPH/LUTS as part of Vanderbilt University’s Biorepository in the Center for Benign Urologic Diseases (CBUD) and has co-authored work on this developing resource. She has served as course faculty member and moderator both nationally and internationally for the American Urological Association and Endourological Society in the area of surgical treatment of BPH and nephrolithiasis. Dr. Miller is an Editorial Board Member for the Journal of Urology, and Co-director of the Minimally Invasive Surgery and Endourology Fellowship at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She is a member of the recent AUA guidelines panel for the Surgical Management of Nephrolithiasis.
