Robotic Upper Tract Reconstruction

This course aims to teach participants how to apply robotics to perform complex upper urinary tract reconstruction, including procedures such as pyeloplasty, ureteroureterostomy, ureteroplasty, and ureterolysis. Advanced reconstructive procedures will be demonstrated, such as revision of uretero-intestinal anastomoses, and buccal mucosa graft for long segment ureteral strictures. Tips and tricks will be given, including efficient methods of stent placement, and ureteral localization using advanced imaging techniques and intraureteral ICG.

Lee C. Zhao MD is Assistant Professor of Urology at New York University School of Medicine. He specializes reconstructive surgery of the genitourinary tract, frequently using a robotic approach to treat problems such as ureteral obstruction, urinary fistulae, and urethral stenosis.
