Category: Robotic Surgery: New Techniques - Benign
Introduction & Objective :
To report our initial experience of robotic laparoendoscopic single-site (R-LESS) pyeloplasty performed with da Vinci single-site flatform.
Methods :
After induction of general endotracheal anesthesia, a 2cm midline umbilical incision was made and dissected through the peritoneum. Then Da Vinci single-port device was inserted through the incision in the peritoneal cavity. After the patient was placed 70-degree semi lateral, the Da Vinci Si system was docked by using a 3-arm configuration and the curved cannulae ports were inserted and docked. Curved scissors and needle drives were used and bed side assistant did suction irrigation during the procedure. The dismembered pyeloplasty was performed as previously described.
Results :
Operative time was 130 minutes and estimated blood loss was 20ml. Length of stay was 4 days. During the surgery, D-J catheter was easily inserted through ureter without any assistance. D-J catheter was removed after 2 weeks and 3-month abdominal CT scan showed that no more hydronephrosis exist.
Conclusions :
Our initial experience with robotic laparoendoscopic single-site (R-LESS) pyeloplasty performed with da Vinci single-site platform demonstrated that this surgical platform is feasible in selected patients.
