Introduction & Objective : Robotic-assisted laparoscopic abdominal sacrocolpopexy is considered the gold standard surgical repair for patients with symptomatic pelvic organ prolapse with apical descent.
Methods : We examined our series of cases between 2012 to 2017 and the associated outcomes. We performed a novel technique of extending our dissection to the very distal vagina both anteriorly and posteriorly to maximize support for the repair.
Results : 116 robotic sacrocolpopexies were performed during this time. Mean operative time was 90min (range 68 - 147min). 95% of patients were discharged home on the first post-operative day. There were no major complications in our series.
Conclusions : Robotic sacrocolpopexy is a safe and effective surgery for patients with symptomatic apical prolapse. This video demonstrates the feasibility of a minimally invasive approach that can be completed in approximately 90min.
