Introduction & Objective :

We aimed to present laparoscopic retroperitoneal lymph node dissection (LRPLND) experience of Uludag University Urology department for the treatment of testicular cancer.

Methods : We evaluated retrospectively the data of 20 patients underwent LRPLND between June 2010 and March 2018. 

Results : Mean patient age was 29,6 (20-42) years. 13 patients underwent left radical orchiectomy and 7 right radical orchiectomy. Patology reported mixt germ cell tumor for 17 patients, seminoma for one patient, also one immature teratoma and one embrional carcinoma. 13 patients had neo-aduvant chemo-therapy (CT) (3 cures of cisplatin – etoposide- bleomycin). After normalisation of tumor markers patients underwent modified template LRPLND for retroperitoneal residuel tumors. Mean operation time for non- CT patients were 135 (60-240) minutes and 159 (60-300) minutes for CT patients. Mean blood loss is 54 (25-250) ml. and only one patient had perioperative blood transfusion. No convertion to open surgery was needed. Mean hospitalisation time was 4,45 (2-13) days. Prolonged lymphatic drainage was seen in 3 patients. Mean excised lymph node was 13 (4-24). Patholgy report evaluted benign, teratoma, necrosis, metastatic tumoral infiltration and mixed germ cell tumor respectively in 7, 6, 3, 3 and 1 patients. Mean follow up period is 26,1 (1-94) months and no recurrens was seen.

Conclusions : Our experience is compatible with the literature. RPLND can be done laparoscopic as a minimal invasive and safe technique.
