Introduction & Objective : We applied the three-dimensional laparoscopic living donor nephrectomy (3DLLDN) for kidney harvesting. To assess the safety, feasibility, and results of this technique, we analyzed the initial data of 3DLLDN to assess outcomes and evaluate our experience in the series.

Methods : Data were collected prospectively on 8 donors with 3DLLDN at our hospital during November 2015. The donors were chosen by the Renal Transplantation Council of our Hospital (donor national criteria). All of them were related living donors, except who can demonstrate the humanitarian motive and non-remunerated donor. To choose the side of the kidney to harvest, we prefer to remain the best function kidney (by renal isotopic scan) or the healthy kidney of the donor. The abnormally of kidney vessels with multiple arteries were not the main criteria of side choosing. Patient demographics, radiology findings, surgery results, peri-operative complications, warm ischemia time, hospital stay and follow-up results were recorded. The primary outcomes were intraoperative surgical results.

Results : There were 8 cases of 3DLLDN. Female/male: 1:1. Age mean 45.25 years. Right kidney nephrectomy: 37.5% (3/8 cases). Two-artery kidney: 37.5% (3/8 cases). Warm ischemic time: 3.75 minutes. Operative time: 150.5 minutes. Hospitalized time: 3 days. None postoperative complications.

Conclusions : The technique was relatively simple and feasible with standard instruments for laparoscopic surgery.
