VS9-7 - Pelvic lymph node dissection complications encountered during robot assisted radical prostatectomy

Introduction & Objective :

In this video pelvic lymph node dissection complications encountered during robot assisted radical prostatectomy are presented.


Methods :

There were 1 obturator nerve thermal injury, 1 incomplete ureteral injury and 3 vascular injuries recognized during the procedure. 


Results :

Two vascular injuries were repaired with 5-0 prolene suture successfully. Injured ureter was catheterized and repaired with 4-0 polyglactin suture properly. One venous injury and obturator nerve injury did not require any intervention.


Conclusions :

As in every procedure, it is important to recognize and properly manage complications during robot assisted radical prostatectomy. It is the best and absolutely advised to prevent any complication before it happens.
