This session will offer an opportunity to hear from current players in the market who have identified payment facilitator model as the most viable means to serve customers. Gain insight into how they determined why utilizing a payfac model worked to serve customers, the benefits and challenges and how they engage with legacy players in the payments industry.

Mike Cottrell Bio

Mike Cottrell has over 20 years of experience in the payments industry. Joining ProPay in 2014, he is Senior Vice President Global Sales where he is responsible for the payment facilitator program, funds disbursement platform and merchant sales. Prior to ProPay he was Chief Business Development Officer for TriSource Solutions where he was responsible for leading product and the agent and ISO programs. Mike served as Senior Vice President Market Strategies for Vital Processing Services (now TSYS Acquiring) as well as other marketing and product roles at Vital. He has a bachelor's degree in business information systems and an MBA in International Management from Thunderbird School of Global Management.

Rich is the co-founder and Chief Product Officer of WePay. WePay powers payments on online platforms and marketplaces, such as, Constant Contact, FreshBooks, GoFundMe and Meetup. WePay protects its partners from risk and regulatory exposure, while supporting a seamless experience for their end-users. Prior to founding WePay in 2008, Rich left a prestigious scholarship to NYU Law. Prior to that he attended Boston College where he earned a BA in Economics, Political Science and Philosophy.

Becky Kopplin is an experienced payment strategist who has spent over 15 years working with start-ups, merchants, integrated software vendors, private equity firms, and multi-million dollar organizations to launch and advance payment solutions. From standard ISO/referral processing to a fully-integrated Payment Facilitator endeavor, Becky’s expertise with payments across a broad spectrum of models has given her a comprehensive understanding of what it takes to run a successful payments business.

Through her work with Ministry Brands and Community Brands, Becky has overseen and advised payment activities of an organization that processes over $12B annually across 20+ integrated SaaS and on-premises platforms. Her work also includes acquisition due diligence, monetization strategies, and best practice-based executive leadership in risk management, payment operations, support, and sales enablement.

Becky is a Certified Payments Professional (CPP), an Accredited ACH Professional (AAP), and hold a BA in Organizational Management from Whitworth University.

Benny is the Founder of Payrix, a developer of payment facilitation solutions, and an emerging leader in the financial services industry. Over the last decade, he has played strategic technical and executive roles in launching and operating Benchmark Merchant Solutions, Splash Payments, and most recently, Payrix. Each of these organizations has grown rapidly to establish strong market positions within the highly competitive payments segment of the financial industry. Benny blends strong entrepreneurial resources with a deep knowledge of complex financial systems and processes.
Benny lives in Brooklyn, New York with his family.
