The opportunities afforded by big data are significant. This session will explore how merchants can leverage data as an effective strategy in managing their business. From simple reporting to deeper insights on sales trends, inventory management and payment process, this session will explore the real-world experiences from both financial institutions and businesses in effective utilization of big data on a daily basis to expand and enhance customer service. Further, this session will address and identify what is critical to merchant customers in order to identify and leverage relevant data all around to expand and enhance business opportunities.

Jared Drieling

Senior Director Business Intelligence

Jared Drieling, Senior Director of Business Intelligence, is involved in a variety of strategic marketing initiatives, client project efforts and business development efforts across The Strawhecker Group's (TSG) Marketing and Strategic Research Division. Drieling is a seasoned business professional with 14 years of experience in market/competitive intelligence, product development/commercialization and marketing in the payments industry.

Prior to joining TSG, Drieling held market intelligence and product management positions during his ten years at First Data. While at First Data, he was part of the market and competitive intelligence team which directly supported major strategic initiatives such as partnership exploration, international enter and exit strategies and market development. Drieling was heavily involved in developing and launching First Data’s first international market and competitive intelligence team. Most recently, Drieling was the Product Manager for First Data’s SpendTrend macro-economic report. Outside of the being the writer and editor of SpendTrend, he also played a key role in raising the awareness and credibility of the SpendTrend brand through partnership development and media engagement.

Mike Lawrence

First American Payment Systems

Mike Lawrence joined First American in November 2006 as Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer. In 2008, he was named Executive Vice President and Chief Information Officer. Prior to joining First American, he worked at Irving, Texas-based ACE Cash Express, Inc., where he rose through the ranks to serve as Vice President of Retail Store Systems. Previously, he was the Director of Applications Development/Systems Integration at American Parts System, Inc., and a Systems Engineer for the transportation division and plant automation division of EDS Corporation. Mr. Lawrence received both a Bachelor of Business Administration degree, with an emphasis in Information Systems Management, and a Master of Business Administration degree, from Baylor University.

His background spans 19 years in financial services leading co-brand credit card programs in the retail, travel and loyalty sectors, as well as issuer-branded consumer and business card programs.
