Canine leptospirosis continues to be a common disease and a diagnostic challenge. Leptospirosis should be considered as a differential diagnosis for many clinical presentations, not only in dogs with acute renal failure and/or hepatic disease. This talk will include discussion of the changing epidemiology of canine leptospirosis and how that information can help us to more readily recognize patients that may have leptospirosis. Recognizing leptospirosis is important not just for the health and well-being of our patients, but also for their human companions.
