Kurt Kitching
Business Solutions Manager
Omnia (PTY) Ltd.
Protea Chemicals is one of the largest chemical distributor on the African continent. Within the implementation of Advanced WMS, the team implemented TMS initially for the distribution of Chlorine cylinders and then extended this for the management of 3rd Party logistics suppliers. TMS has also been recently commissioned for the Bulk Mining and Explosives (BME) business, providing a platform for the logistics of bulk and packed product to a number of client and distribution sites. Whilst TMS can provide basic functionality, TMS requires specific configuration and changes to ensure that the TMS platform can cater for the complexity required by these business units. This session covers the overview of TMS and what has been configured for Protea Chemicals. We also cover how specific challenges have been overcome to address the business requirements in the short term. This session will address a number of core features that the team believe are critical when designing the future TMS capabilities for companies that require advanced transport functions.
