Mikhael Erekson

Mr. Erekson is a senior protective design engineer with 16 years of experience in the areas of dynamic structural analyses, explosive weapons effects, historic retrofit/renovation, structural design and hazard mitigation, impact and penetration mechanics, window system analysis and design, criteria development and review, progressive or disproportionate collapse mitigation, development of engineering models and codes, and computer modeling/simulation ranging from simplified calculations to high fidelity finite element analysis. He has assisted the US Department of State (DOS), US General Services Administration (GSA), US Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), US Department of Defense (DOD), US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), several nuclear power companies, and numerous commercial window, architecture, engineering, and construction companies in the analysis, design, and retrofit of buildings and components to mitigate blast, impact, and other extreme effects. He is a lead developer and maintainer of WINGARD, the leading software tool for predicting glass response under blast loads and has been validated against hundreds of explosive windows tests. Mr. Erekson is also an active member of the ASCE Blast, Shock, and Impact Committee.
