Andrea Alberto A. Mammoli

Andrea Mammoli is Professor and Regents' Lecturer of Mechanical Engineering at the University of New Mexico, and Director of the Center for Emerging Energy Technologies, an organization within the School of Engineering dedicated to research on the integration of distributed energy resources on the electricity grid through system architecture and controls. Mammoli has been active in the field of distributed energy systems since 2005, with projects including solar-assisted HVAC in commercial buildings, building-scale energy storage, distribution-level PV and battery systems, and microgrids, in the context of optimization and controls leading to better economics and enhanced resilience. He conducts research in collaboration with the Electric Power Research Institute, Sandia National Laboratories and Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, among others. Mammoli obtained a Ph.D. in mechanical and materials engineering in 1995 from the university of Western Australia, and was Director's Fellow at Los Alamos National Laboratory between 1995 and 1997 in the Energy and Process Engineering group, prior to joining UNM. He authored or co-authored over 100 peer-reveiwed journal and conference papers.

Peter Lilienthal

Dr. Peter Lilienthal is the CEO of HOMER Energy. Since 1993, he has been the developer of the National Renewable Energy Laboratory’s HOMER® hybrid power optimization software, which has been used by over 180,000 energy practitioners in 193 countries. NREL has licensed HOMER Energy to be the sole world-wide commercialization licensee to distribute and enhance the HOMER model.

Dr. Lilienthal was the Senior Economist with International Programs at NREL from 1990 – 2007. He was the lead analyst and one of the creators of NREL’s Village Power Programs. He has a Ph.D. in Management Science and Engineering from Stanford University. He has been active in the field of renewable energy and energy efficiency since 1978. This has included designing and teaching courses at the university level, project development of independent power projects, and consulting to industry and regulators. His expertise is in the economic and financial analysis of renewable and micro-grid projects.

Martin M. Weiss

NH Research, Inc.

Martin has over 25 years’ experience in the development of embedded power supplies, power management systems, and energy storage systems. In his developments of these solutions, he has also developed a number of automated characterization systems used worldwide by power conversion and energy storage manufacturers.
Martin currently holds the position of Product Director with NH Research where he is responsible for all testing solutions including the power testing hardware, complete ATE test systems, and the associated test control sequencing software tools.
Prior to NH Research, Martin worked as a Principal Design Engineer for multiple high-tech companies including Vocollect (Pittsburgh, PA) , Marconi Communications (Wexford, PA) and Telxon (Ohio and Texas).
