Many financial tools and options now exist for purchase or lease of solar systems. Such resources are not as prevalent for O&M service contracts. This session will cover what's needed to explore development of those resources and how we can provide better solutions for common challenges.

Katie Janik is the Portfolio and Asset Management lead at ICF. She is a financial strategy professional with substantial project finance experience, particularly in the renewable energy and financial services sectors. Katie has maximized the value of project portfolios and investor returns by building out asset management groups and by streamlining the framework of existing groups. Throughout her career in risk management, Katie has monitored over $27 billion and over 1GW of renewable energy projects, including wind, solar and geothermal. Katie’s career has established her as a leader in project finance, portfolio monitoring, debt restructuring, policy and procedure management, tax equity, and software automation. She is also experienced in managing cross-functional teams and training staff.

In 2014 Derek Chase founded SunSystem Technology to service and maintain the growing residential and commercial solar asset base. With a focus on customer satisfaction and leveraging technology to improve execution and reduce costs, SST has grown to be a nationwide leader in the O&M sector and has serviced over 100,000 systems since established. SunSystem is now utilizing it's highly trained customer service and field support staff to service and maintain EV Chargers and Energy Storage. Prior to founding SST, Derek spent 10 years in the solar industry and held multiple roles in quality control and asset management for publically traded companies focusing on system performance and module manufacturing.

Chris Doyle

Christopher Doyle is a solar and finance industry leader who works with hundreds of solar installers and top finance companies across the country to address key challenges that face the industry. Mr. Doyle is the founder of SiteCapture, the leading field resource technology platform in the solar industry and also works as Chief Commercial Officer at Dividend Finance, one of the largest solar and PACE finance providers in the country. Mr. Doyle formerly served as Program Director at the Institute for Building Technology and Safety (IBTS), where he built the largest residential solar PV quality assurance program in the country. While at IBTS, he also launched the Solar Access to Public Capital (SAPC) Installer Best Practices initiative through the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) and the Department of Energy. Combining relationships with leaders across the solar industry and a track record as the pre-eminent quality assurance and workforce training advocate in solar. He holds an MBA from Rice University and Bachelor’s Degree from Texas A&M University. He is also a husband and father to two kids, all happily living in Austin, TX.

He is on the Board of Directors for the Georgia Solar Energy Industry Association, Georgia Chamber of Commerce Energy and Environment Committee and has been a founding Board Member and Vice Chairman of the Georgia Solar Energy Association. He is also a founding board member of the Technology Association of Georgia Smart Energy Society, The Metro Atlanta Chamber CleanTech Leadership Council, and a former Board Member of The Environmental Fund for Georgia/Earthshare and The Savannah Riverkeeper.

Kent Williams is the Vice President of Asset Management at Vivint Solar, a leading full service residential solar integrator. Kent's team helps direct the long-term success of Vivint Solar's portfolio of installed PV systems, interfacing between customers, investors and company operations. Prior to Vivint, Kent was the Chief Operating Officer of LeaseDimensions, an industry-leading renewable-energy servicing business. He worked closely with most of the solar industry’s residential solar finance providers and was instrumental in the development and operation of the company. Before that he was a founding partner and senior executive of Loan Servicing Enterprise (LSE), providing third-party servicing to the ABS and lending communities.

Kent has organized, established, and operated account servicing centers ranging from small hands-on operations to large servicing centers supporting more than 1,000,000 accounts. His experience includes converting and servicing more than 500 portfolios in excess of $100 billion and servicing securitized pools, warehouse lines, internal funding, and letter of credit banks. He has serviced solar, auto, consumer, student, home equity, residential mortgage, and commercial account portfolios. Kent is a nationally recognized speaker in the solar, servicing, and collections arena and holds a Bachelor of Science in finance from Brigham Young University and an MBA from Arizona State University.
