Microgrid 'enomics - Defining the Business Opportunities

Wednesday, September 26
2:30 PM - 4:00 PM
Location: 205AB

Microgrid business models are evolving along a continuum, from third-party projects to utility-initiated projects. In between, a hybrid, “unbundled” model based on public-private partnerships is emerging which could offer more flexibility and opportunities for collaboration. This session will examine the state of microgrids, using the discrete business models that are supporting build-out and specific use cases to highlight how microgrids best contribute to the electric grid’s steady evolution toward aggregating and integrating distributed energy resources (DERs), flexible loads, and increased resilience and security.

Jon Powers

Jon is President and Co-Founder and leads corporate strategy and development, investor relations, and marketing for CleanCapital. Jon's passion for clean energy derives from his time served with the US Army in Iraq and the realization that a clean energy economy is vital to protect America's national security interests. After helping revolutionize the US Army's energy program, Jon was appointed by President Obama to serve as the Federal Chief Sustainability Officer. While in this role, Jon recognized the need to address the inefficiencies in clean energy finance. In 2016, Jon was named by Washington Life as a Top 25 Tech Leader for DC.
