The Fight of Our Lives: Threats Continue in 2018

Wednesday, July 25
9:20 AM - 10:05 AM
Location: Grand Ballroom ABC

We continue to be in the fight of our lives to protect effective federal programs and civil rights laws that make it possible for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) to live in the community and thrive. In Congress, massive cuts to Medicaid and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) remain on the table, and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and other important civil rights laws are under attack. Learn about the latest threats, the important role that chapters of The Arc are already playing in this fight

Members of The Arc’s public policy team will:

(1)Share up-to-date information about the latest threats in Congress and what we expect for the rest of 2018;

(2)Highlight examples of ways that chapters of The Arc are already taking major steps to work with The Arc’s national office to fight against cuts.

(3)Review available resources to support chapters in taking action, and share upcoming opportunities for chapters to work with The Arc’s national office to ramp up our advocacy for the rest of 2018.
