Optical Coherence Tomography for Live Imaging of Spheroids and Organoids

Tuesday, February 6
4:30 PM - 4:50 PM
Location: Exhibition Theater

3D spheroids and organoids are widely accepted as a more representative biological models in phenotypic drug discovery as they exhibit more in vivo-like size and gradient-dependent proliferation and viability profiles. Optical coherence tomography is a non-invasive, non-lytic imaging technology that provides real-time, cross sectional and sub-surface volumetric imaging of samples with micron-level resolution. It also allows differentiation of samples by detecting the image contrast originating from variances in the sample’s physical density (refractive index (RI)). Leena will present how SCREEN’s latest 3D tomographic imaging system ‘Cell3iMager Estier’ can be used as an effective tool to facilitate drug screening by detecting necrotic regions and by quantifying volume, internal cavities, etc., of 3D spheroids and organoids non-invasively.
