Processing Challenging NGS Samples Using Liquid Handling Automation

Sequencing of RNAs from extracellular fluids, including serum and plasma, is a fast-growing area of biomarker research. The need to process small quantities of samples is increasing as early detection strategies become more effective and less invasive biopsy strategies are adopted. Moreover, the rapidly changing landscape of molecular testing points towards a need for minimizing sample input and preservation of sample for future testing.
This seminar describes factors to be considered when automating NGS library preparation workflows for RNA sequencing from serum and plasma samples.

Kanhav Khanna

After earning his MS in Biology from Texas Tech University in 2010, where he studied Small RNA Biogenesis, Kanhav joined Sequencing and Microarray Facility at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX. Over the course of 6 years in the sequencing core at the MD Anderson Cancer Center, Kanhav worked extensively with the epMotion to automate a number of challenging Illumina NGS library prep kits. Kanhav’s firsthand experience with the epMotion as well as his training in molecular biology allows him to quickly solve complex issues.

Kanhav joined Eppendorf as a Field Application Specialist in 2016. He is responsible for performing training, and method development (including generation of data with comparison to previously collected results). He also coordinates the generation and production of technical literature such as training courses, user guides and manuals. Kanhav fulfills Field Application contracts and supports customers in the Central region of the North American Market.
