UK Director Structural & Biophysical Sciences
GSK, Hertfordshire, UK
With a broad interest in both chemistry and physics Chun-wa Chung studied for a BA in Natural Sciences at the University of Cambridge. Continuing within the chemistry department at Cambridge she completed a PhD in NMR techniques development, before joining GSK as a postdoctoral researcher to implement new NMR methodologies within the protein structure group. Since then she has supported projects with a repertoire of structural and biophysical techniques and co-led initiatives such as SPR for hit triage, RapidFire MS for compound screening, HDX-MS for epitope mapping and cryo-EM for structure elucidation.
Chun-wa currently leads the UK structural and biophysical science group at GSK’s major European research site in Stevenage. This group supports crystallography, electron microscopy and biophysical studies from HTS hit triage and mode-of-action analysis to fragment screening across a wide range of therapeutic areas and drug modalities. She also co-leads a drug discovery program in the epigenetic area.
