This session will demonstrate the importance of a well-designed protocol form to streamlining the review process and reducing burden on both the IACUC and members of the research community. During this session, speakers and attendees will:

Toni O'Connell, MS, CPIA is the IACUC Administrator for Pfizer in Groton, Connecticut where she coordinates multiple aspects of the IACUC from post approval monitoring to generating literature searches for Principal Investigators. Ms. O'Connell has over 17 years of experience working in IACUC administration including serving as an IACUC Chair. Toni is currently an IACUC non-affiliated member for the Mystic Aquarium in Mystic, Connecticut. In addition to IACUC administration, Ms. O'Connell has an extensive background working as a biological safety officer managing a Federal Select Agent Program. She received her CPIA certification in April 2013 and has participated as a PRIM&R Conference speaker. Ms. O'Connell enjoys serving as a mentor to junior colleagues and those interested in CPIA certification. In 2017, Ms. O'Connell worked to establish the Connecticut IACUC Administrators Practice Networking Group and serves as a Co-Chair.
