Sanae ElShourbagy Ferreira is a public health and community health researcher trained in clinical and molecular nutrition with a Ph.D. in Nutrition & Metabolism from Boston University School of Medicine. Sanae has 10+ years of research experience studying disease prevention from the perspectives of nutritional epidemiology, genetics, metabolism, community health, and drug development. Her dissertation investigated childhood obesity and racial disparities in risk to help clinicians inform a targeted practice of disease prevention among children ages 9 years and older. She is passionate about scientific advocacy and communicating science and bridging the gap between research and the general public through education and media: she has been invited to present at >7 national conferences and >5 seminars and panels, and was a former editorial intern at The Conversation and is currently a feature contributor for the American Society of Nutrition blog, among others.
