Online tools allow researchers to broaden the impact of their published work in an ever increasing way. What are alternative metrics, when should you use them and why should you care? Join us for this workshop to learn about the major trends in the development of new metrics to measure the impact of your publications.

Patty Smith is the Impact and Dissemination Librarian at Galter Health Sciences Library where she works with the Metrics and Impact Core. Her responsibilities include supporting individuals and groups in scientific writing and navigating the publishing and dissemination process. She has a particular interest in helping researchers tell their science story, and enjoys working with individuals to craft narrative statements infused with traditional bibliometrics and alternative metrics to communicate their research impact. She collaborates with a variety of stakeholders, ranging from individuals seeking to improve their promotion and tenure materials, to departments on large-scale dissemination projects.
