Dr. Larry Pickering is an adjunct professor of pediatrics in the Department of Pediatrics at Emory University School of Medicine, and is past executive secretary of the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP). He is co‐chair of the Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA) Management of Infectious Diarrhea Guideline Panel, and past-chair of the Scientific Program Committee of the IDSA, ID Week 2014. He is past-president of the Pediatric Infectious Diseases Society. Dr. Pickering is a past member of the Board of Directors (BOD) and treasurer of the National Foundation for Infectious Diseases (NFID); editor of five editions the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) Red Book®; co‐editor of the four editions of Principles and Practice of Pediatric Infectious Diseases; recipient of the 2007 Pediatric Infectious Disease Society’s Distinguished Physician Award; recipient of the national AAP 2010 Award for Lifetime Contributions to Infectious Diseases Education; recipient of a 2013 Outstanding Service Award from the Georgia chapter of the AAP; 21st Annual IDSA Edward H. Kass Lecture in Infectious Disease; recipient of the 2013 Distinguished Service Award from the Pediatric Infectious Diseases Society; and recipient of the 2016 John Utz award in recognition of outstanding leadership skills from NFID. He is a member of the National Vaccine Advisory Committee (NVAC) of the National Vaccine Program Office.
