Students who hope to continue with careers in STEM-related fields need access to high levels of creative problem solving. This session is designed for mathematics teachers to explore how they foster creativity among gifted students through a variety of group tasks and exploratory problems. The focus of this session is on ways to engage students in high-level mathematical thinking.

Kathy Cash is Dean of Faculty Development and Trinity High School in Louisville, Kentucky. She has spent years working with advanced students at the high school level, teaching various accelerated and Advanced Placement mathematics classes. She holds a Ph.D. in mathematics education from the University of Louisville where she completed a dissertation on student academic engagement in mathematics among students of high ability.
