When designing coursework for our students, we now look to enhance their knowledge and talents based on 21st Century skills and careers, but often fall short to offer such programs to our elementary students. SEEP is a STEAM Elementary Exploratory Program that has enabled our school to promote and reinforce these concepts at an early age.

HEATHER HOOVER is a 4th grade GIS teacher at Pugliese West Elementary for Steubenville City Schools. After earning a Bachelor of Science degree from Franciscan University of Steubenville, Heather then continued her education at Cleveland State University earing a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction. During this time she also completed the necessary coursework to obtain her Gifted Intervention Specialist endorsement. Heather holds a professional license in Early Childhood Education along with an Early Childhood 4-5, Reading K-12, and GIS K-12 endorsement, and is currently working towards her Administration Specialist license.
Heather’s interests include specialized programs that service high ability students, and meeting the needs of all gifted learners. She strives to provide her students with a variety of opportunities that encompass instructional best practices with a direct approach to project/problem-based learning, that encourages her gifted students abilities and potential, through meaningful engagement. Her profound interest in curriculum and instruction has enabled her to present authentic learning experiences to her students, which promote creativity, challenge and student innovation.
