Young gifted students may exceed expectations of teachers and testing companies in their skill level and content knowledge in the early grades, demonstrating needs for differentiation in curriculum, instruction, and assessment. This multi-year study examined demographic and performance profiles for K-2 students who reached the ceiling on a national reading and mathematics assessment, and we share classroom and assessment implications.
