Areta Ulhana Galat

Areta Galat holds a B.A. in Languages from PUC-PR, a Specialization in English Language from the Federal University of Paraná (UFPR) and an MA in TESL from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.

For 18 years, she was the Academic Coordinator of the Binational center in Curitiba and after her return from the US, started her career as an EducationUSA Advisor. Since 2005, she has worked at FAE Centro Universitário as an Advisor at the EducationUSA FAE office.

She is also the Head of the International Office and under her responsibility, FAE has signed over 25 collaboration agreements. In 2013, her institution was awarded the Round #1 President Obama’s 100K Strong Initiative Grant for the International Office Capacity Building Programs. Currently, Areta coordinates the English as a Medium of Instruction and COIL Projects of her institution and teaches a class on Interculturality to undergraduate students from the Law, Business Administration and International Business majors.

Ashley Kopf

Ashley Kopf received her B.A. in East Asian Studies from Wittenberg University in Ohio. After graduation she spent a year teaching English at a university in Hangzhou, China, before returning to Ohio to work at her alma mater in the Office of Admission as the Coordinator of International Recruitment. During her time at Wittenberg she worked to create a working group between the Office of Financial Aid and International Student Services to better support incoming international students. After leaving Wittenberg, Kopf moved to Zacatecas, Mexico, and became the first adviser in the EducationUSA Zacatecas office which opened in 2014. Kopf helps organize webinars and social media activities for the EducationUSA Mexico advising network, including coordinating a Pre-Departure Webinar series.

Marcelo R. Saldana

Marcelo Saldaña is the EducationUSA adviser and adjunct university professor in La Paz, Bolivia. Mr. Saldaña is a graduate from Emporia State University in Kansas where he obtained his BA in International Business and MS in Instructional Design and Technology.
During his time at ESU, Saldaña worked as a graduate student for the office of International Education in which he had the opportunity not only to meet students of different backgrounds but also learn in great detail about all the processes and responsibilities that international students have during their college life experience in the United States.
After living in the USA for 12 years, Saldaña moved back to his home country where he pursued his teaching career and simultaneously joined the EducationUSA team as the advisor for La Paz. With just over two years in his current position, Saldaña was able to uplift the center in the new location and increase the number of visitors/appointments. He also worked in two different Grant proposals for the 100,000 strong initiative in which an exchange program was signed among two universities. He has the role as the social media administrator for Bolivia and plans to introduce virtual advising to reach out to other cities.

Susan M. Whipple

Susan Whipple is currently an assistant director in the office of international education at Marquette University. She has been working in the international education field for over 15 years in a variety of roles and has presented workshops and sessions on a variety of topics at NAFSA national, regional, and state conferences, as well as at EducationUSA regional conferences. Whipple holds a BA in History and French from the State University of New York (SUNY) College at New Paltz, and master’s degrees in international and intercultural management (MIIM, School for International Training, Brattleboro, VT) and human resources management (MSHR, Marquette University). She is a past Recruitment, Admissions, and Preparation (RAP) Knowledge Community Liaison for Region V and began her career as an OSEAS adviser in Malaysia.
