Learn how fundraising with the support of alumni relations can represent a significant supplementary revenue stream and enhance cross-functional collaboration between campus units and partners abroad. In this interactive workshop, international education leaders work through case studies and identify model practices.

With more than 25 years of experience in field of international Education, I’ve been building global communities linking universities, companies, governmental organizations, NGOs, scholarship foundations and entrepreneurs. I've developed international strategies and programs on alumni and stakeholder engagement, intercultural communication, student mobility, international marketing and recruitment and language acquisition. This has given me the opportunity to live and work in the Netherlands, USA, Spain and Colombia.

I'm co-founder and president of the Holland Alumni network-Netherlands for international students and alumni residing in the Netherlands. I'm further completing a Ph.D. in Management at Tilburg University in the Netherlands on the topic of International Alumni Relations and Internationalization of Higher Education.

I also serve as trainer and adviser for various international organizations: the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE), Association of International Educators (NAFSA) and European Association of International Education (EAIE), Association of Latin American Business Schools (CLADEA) and Nuffic (Organization for internationalization of Dutch education). I've also co-authored various articles on international engagement.

William I. Brustein, PhD, is Vice President for global strategies and international affairs and the Eberly Family Distinguished Professor of History at West Virginia University. Before coming to West Virginia, he
served as Vice Provost for Global Strategies and International Affairs at The Ohio State University. He is a previous chair of NAFSA’s International
Education Leadership Knowledge Community and past president of the Association of
International Education Administrators (AIEA). He previously served on the board of directors of the
Association for Studies in International Education as well as the editorial advisory boards of the Journal of Studies in International Education and the International Education Report. He is past chair of the
Academic Affairs Committee of APLU’s Commission on International Programs.
Dr. Brustein is the recipient of the 2013 Charles Klasek Award for outstanding service to the field of international education administration by the Association of International Education Administrators

Chunsheng Zhang, PhD

Chunsheng Zhang is the Senior Vice Provost for International Affairs and Professor of Education at the University of North Alabama (UNA). He is responsible for providing institutional leadership for the University’s internationalization planning and implementation and managing the Office of International Affairs which includes International Recruitment and Admissions, International Student and Scholar Services, Study Abroad and Exchange Programs, English as a Second Language Program, and Center for Global Engagement. With over 20 years of work experiences at four different universities, Dr. Zhang is a seasoned Senior International Officer with broad knowledge and experiences in advancing internationalization initiatives including fundraising and grant writing to support study abroad, international recruitment, and faculty/staff international development. He is a long-time member of NAFSA and AIEA and other international education organizations. He served on the Board of Directors for NAFSA and on the Executive Committee for AIEA. Prior to joining UNA in 2009, Dr. Zhang served as the Vice Provost for International Affairs and Outreach at the University of Oregon, Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs/International Studies at St. Cloud State University, and Director of Study Abroad and International Recruitment Coordinator at the University of Missouri-Columbia. Dr. Zhang holds a B.A. in English Language and Literature from Nankai University, China; an M.Ed. in Education and Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration from Bowling Green State University, Ohio, USA.
