Discuss the gray areas of F-1 advising and explore the nuances of more complex issues regarding maintenance of status, travel and reentry, employment and STEM OPT, change of status, and reinstatement. Designed for experienced international student advisers.

Mladenka Tomasevic

Mladenka was born and raised in Montenegro, and came to the U.S. in 2001 as an international student. She holds a B.A. in International Relations from the University of Belgrade, Serbia and an M.A. in Communications from Washington State University. Her career in the field of international education began in 2004 at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. She has been at Princeton University since 2006, where she currently serves as the Senior Associate Director for International Students. Mladenka is an active member of NAFSA, having served on both regional and national teams and committes. Prior to coming to the U.S. in 2001, she spent a few years working in the field of foreign affairs in Montenegro and Slovenia.

Paolo Daniele

Fulbright, Exchange and Visiting Programs Coordinator, Int'l Student Adviser

Paolo Daniele is the coordinator of inbound Fulbright, exchange, short-term and visiting student programs at the University of Oregon, where he also serves as an international student advisor and an advocate for the Japan Exchange and Teaching Program. Previously, Paolo served as program manager for the UCSF Institute for Quantitative Biosciences where he was called to assist in the marketing aspect of partnering industry with academia, and for UCLA’s Postdoctoral Scholar Affairs Office. He earned his MPA with a focus on international education from California State University Long Beach.

Sara Moore

Sara Moore is Associate Director of Student and Academic Services at Sotheby's Institute of Art in New York City. Sara grew up in northeastern Pennsylvania. She studied Art History at the University of Pittsburgh followed by Visual Arts Administration at New York University. Sara fell into international student services due to need when she began working at Sotheby’s Institute of Art and grew to love it! As the PDSO of a two-person office, she wears many hats but advising and conneting with international students is her favorite part of the job. Traveling and Welsh Corgis are two of Sara's favorite things.

Colleen Flynn Thapalia

Colleen Flynn Thapalia joined Clarkson University in 2017, as Director of International Graduate Recruitment & Admission. Earlier, she served for 14 years in various roles at The College of Saint Rose, which included international student services, ESL, and study abroad. She has a professional background in intercultural communication and management in higher education and international organizations, including service as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Burundi and United Nations Volunteer in Nepal.
