Jennifer is the Interim Senior Advisor of Programs and Senior Director of Environmental Health & Disability. She provides oversight and coordination functions related to projects housed on the Environmental Health & Disability, Community Health Promotion, Community Resilience & Volunteer Management, and Maternal & Child Health portfolios. Additionally, she ensures coordination of projects across the other programmatic primary work teams internally and externally with partner organizations. She is primarily responsible for ensuring that programs and services at the local level are enhanced through NACCHO’s activities, sustaining an effective knowledge base of current programs, policies and priorities among practitioners, representing community and environmental health issues and priorities within strategic planning discussions, and providing leadership for long-term planning related to NACCHO’s work.
Jennifer obtained her Masters of Health Sciences from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health with a focus in Environmental Health Sciences. She also holds a Bachelor of Science from University of Michigan with a concentration in Natural Resources and Environmental Policy.

Melissa Pierce is an Environmental Health Specialist with the West Hartford-Bloomfield Health District (WHBHD and the Town of South Windsor Health Department, two local health departments in the state of Connecticut. She oversees the implementation of the FDA Retail Program Standards for the environmental health program at WHBHD and serves as the lead staff for the regulatory transition to the FDA Food Code.
